“ This is the message you heard from the beginning: We should love one another”
Dear Folks –
As you know, we are always looking for ways to reach out to our community and provide services and ministries which are needed and current. Mary & Martha Thrift Shop is one example where we provide a service to our community through low cost clothing and other items.
Moving forward, we have been looking for other ways to minister to our neighbors. Speaking with other soup kitchens in the area, it was discovered that every night of the week is covered by some sort of food program or soup kitchen except Friday night. We are attempting to determine if we can get enough support to be the church which fills that Friday night gap.
The thought is to have a light meal such as soup and sandwiches or something that is easy to prepare. In order to reduce the amount of help we need, it will be served cafeteria style where people help themselves with some supervision. This will take a few people who are committed to getting there a little early and prepare the meal as well as others who will help serve and clean up. The time commitment should not be very intense.
Because we don’t have a food certified kitchen due to the cost, we will have to come up with some creative way to get around that. I am sure if this is meant to be we will have the help and other obstacles removed from us. With God anything is possible.
We are asking you to get back to the deacons ( Sandy Leonard, Dianne DaSilva, Jim Casavant or David Sandford)if you can make a commitment to this ministry. It is the hope that we can involve persons who don’t come to church or even your friends or neighbors who would just like to help those in need.
Thank you for considering this new ministry of Riverpoint.
See you in church
